Paris, France—A study conducted by the French National Institute of Health & Medical Research found that middle-aged men and women with high cholesterol and blood pressure may be at increased risk for developing early cognitive problems. A total of 4,827 subjects (mean age 55 years) received a Framingham risk score and underwent cognitive testing three times yearly for 10 years. Subjects with a higher cardiovascular risk were more likely than those with the lowest risk to have poorer cognitive function and a faster fate of overall cognitive decline. This association was true for both men and women.
